Pedigree Charts?

Post by Alienore » Mon Oct 08, 2007 10:43 am

Quick question - I got a copy of a 15-generation chart a number of years back and it's got severely dog-eared since then (much use made of it!)

Would anyone know where I could either download one of these or be able to buy one? I'd like to get the tree as complete as poss by Christmas and let my parents see it as part of their Christmas. The general 4 or 5-generation sheets are no use to me...

These folks sell charts incl 15 - I have no idea as to quality/price - I have simply seen their advertisements - so I cannot recommend or not as the case may be.

You could probably find some other suppliers via google

Hello Deborah,

It’s mind boggling to imagine that many names on a single sheet of paper.

I guess that if you downloaded such an item you would have to print it out on A4 sheets and join them all together somehow.

If you were thinking about downloading why not just scan segments of your current document at a reasonable resolution and clean up any ragged edges or messy bits, if necessary, in photo editing software.

Then print out each segment, with all your names already entered and hey presto, no dog ears. This way you could print out as many copies as you like.

Whether doing it this way or downloading would be worthwhile probably depends on how good you are at joining pages together.

Thank you both very much for your prompt answers!

I've had a look at that website and prices are very reasonable so will order from them after next payday. My current copy is too worn to make photocopying feasible - it's practically falling to bits.

It's always a good way of seeing just where you've got to on the tree - I've got so many bits and pieces all over the place so it'll help me to see exactly who's where.

Thanks again

In the past i have printed off my pc, joined the pages together and then took it to a printers to print out and end up with one large sheet of paper with no visable joins (just done the same with a map off the net).

Hi,

I recently had my tree done by a designer in the English midlands called Christine Welch, for £10 at A0 size (very big), plus p&p, and in full colour. Christine does fully personalised trees and will take any photos etc that you might have and work them into the design, and will consult you throughout by e-mailing PDF files of the work in progress to you for comment. I found that particularly useful in that I could get her to correct minor typos etc and also ask her to tweak the design a bit, which she is very receptive to. The benefit is that there are no empty boxes on ancestors waiting to be filled in. She can be contacted at chrissywelch ATblueyonder.co.uk and I am sure she could send you an example or two.

Regards,

Chris
