And then if you find what you want, you go here and order it?

Hello Shortfuse,

You won’t find a one stop shop in England.

For England/Wales BMD indexes 1837-1910+
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/

Some Counties are much better than others. For County specific sites see
http://www.ukbmd.org.uk/

English BMDs aren’t very informative and are relatively expensive – best to avoid unless absolutely necessary. Use above and similar sites plus Census Data.

For English Census free sites (transcriptions only & incomplete coverage)
http://freecen.rootsweb.com/

http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/ ... census.asp

For pay sites

http://ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/ce ... fault.aspx
plus many others

Study the sticky

If you get stuck post back.

All the best,
Alan
