old newspapers

Found out that my grandfather sued the colliery director of Avonhead colliery. The article was in the Scotsmans newspaper 3rd November 1928.
On the 21st February 1929 , the Scotman newpaper printed the conclusion of the trial.Would this article have appear in the local press, and could there have been a photo of my grandfather?.Iwould like to try and find a copy of the local newspaper 1928 1929.Have emailed one newspaper in Airdrie, but as yet have had no reply.Anyone have any suggestions?

thankyou

If it was a Glasgow & it's envrons which I am assuming it was with your mention of Airdrie I would try the Mitchell.

I will be there next week & if you like will add it to my list.

Thankyou , it would be great if you could look this up for me.His name was William James Boyle of Avonhead Longriggend .As i have no photos of my grandparents,i am hoping maybe a photo in the local paper,as i think this case was unusual for a miner to sue the director.
thankyou

I am wondering if it was done under the auspices of his mining Union?

They may not have the newspaper in their Archive but should be able to tell which if any local paper exsisted then & where to search for it.

I am thinking local library archives but I will look & try not to get side-tracked following up an interesting snippet  Which did however lead to an unknown family story.

Just in case you haven't seen this site, it has some good background info on Longriggend.

Just to let you know that I had a mixed result to my search.
The local paper involved was the Coatbridge & ? Examiner(working from memory)
Got the film there was big headline -almost the first entry I read.Printed it off got home & read it & discovered it was another case entirely.
This was published on the 9th Nov 1928.
It involved a young man called Mcdonald who had a trolley run over him & he sued the directors of the mine at Longriggend.
I can let you see copy if you want-probably better to e-mail as I don't want to breach any copyright laws.!
