Ancestry freebie--military collection

Post by speleobat2 » Fri May 23, 2008 12:03 am

Just had an email notice from Ancestry saying that from May 20-May 31 you can search their military collection for free.

Haven't tried this as I have a subscription so I don't know how it works.

Carol :)

Edited: Very simple! Go to their home page, look for the What's New box on the right side and click on the military entry!!!!
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,

Hi Carol:

Just a note about the weekend freebie. It's Memorial Day weekend in the US. Although the Ancestry offer is to search all their military records, the only ones which will show the complete details for free, are the US records.

Still a good offer for some

Hi Frances,

I thought that might be the case. Too bad that it is limited to the US records, but the WWI registration cards have a lot of information and they were for all males, citzens or not. Both of my grandfathers and a couple of great uncles had to register and I was able to find out addresses and, more importantly, names of the great uncles' wives, from these cards! :D

Every little bit of info helps!
