I have replied to a posting on the England site and it dawned on me that it may be of interest to this site also.
It regards looking for people in your family who had been drawing a state pension as a means of finding out when they died. My grandfather lived in England.
I found my grandfather's death details through this way in 1998. I had his birth details and full name which helped.
I wrote to the Pensions dept at the following address
Department of Social Security
Special section A
National Insurance Contributions Branch
Newcastle upon Tyne
NE98 1YX
They replied with a letter saying that he had died and the date of death (which can be helpful when looking for other info) in Southampton. From that info i was able to order a copy of his death cert and that gave me an address and next of kin.
It's always another way to try to break down the brick walls !
