Family centre Index

Post by niall » Mon Aug 18, 2008 10:43 am

Hi.
Has anyone experience of accessing records via a family centre? I have come across file/ fiche number which says " sealings for the dead, couples and children etc.."
Can I get access to it in Scotland?

cheers
Niall

I have only ever used the web site for research but very soon am hoping to embark on visiting a centre and hopeful being organised enough to order microfilms of what i need before hand.

Here is a list of the ones in Scotland http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Library ... et_fhc.asp

Lots of members have experience of going the centres so maybe one of them will answer you more coherently than i can soon :) .

Hi Niall
You should be able to order most films from your local LDS centre, if they are listed in their catalogue.
sealings for the dead, couples and children etc.."
As far as I'm aware, the above film is likely to contain information concerning LDS baptisms into the LDS church based on the findings of those researching their family who are LDS church members - I'm not sure it would contain much of interest from the family history point of view, but I may be wrong. Some of my lot from way back have been baptised retropectively by the LDS church even though during their lives they were staunch presbyterians!

Best wishes
Lesley

Lesley
Thanks for shedding some light on query. I came across the info, it shows an LDS member with my ggggggfthr in their tree. As my relatives have proved to be incredibly few and far between, I thought this might give some insight.
