Hello Sandra,

Did you have any luck with the Electoral Roll? If not maybe these will be useful.

The Scotsman - Saturday, 7th March 1942, page 6
Report of an amount awarded to 52 year old, Arthur Munn, Joiner, residing at 6 Watt Street, Greenock, arising out of an accident in Main street, Greenock, when he was run into by a motor cycle while crossing the street. Before the accident he was a fit and cheerful man, albeit rather dull of hearing, now he is deaf and almost a nervous wreck etc.

The Scotsman - Monday, 28th February 1938, page 10
A fire at 8 watt street, Greenock, started in the kitchen of 74 years old, Mrs McClarkin. Mr & Mrs Higgins’s house below flooded by firemen, gas meter explodes scattering pennies everywhere.

The Scotsman - Thursday, 28th February 1935, page 9
Glasgow steamer Blairgowrie feared lost with all hands 1,000 miles off coast of Brittany. Charles McGlinchy, age 42, Watt Street, Greenock, was a member of the crew.

The Scotsman - Friday, 27th August 1937, page 6
Mention of a Daniel McMillan Murdoch who lives at 4 Watt Street, Greenock.

Either everything is happening at that end of the street or Watt is a very short street, and I see from the map that it is.

Is that any help?
Alan

Hi Alan,
Ive heard nothing. All that info you have given me is really interesting.
I'm trying to find out who was in my family at that address at that time.

Thank you so much again,I'm going to get my mum round to see if she knows anything about all these things in the paper.

Kind Regards,
Sandra

You could try contacting the James Watt Library in Greenock.

The Watt Library is the main local history and genealogy library for Inverclyde. It holds a wide range of source materials for the study of local and family history in Inverclyde Greenock, Gourock, Port Glasgow, Kilmacolm, Inverkip.

These include census returns, parish registers, valuation rolls, council records, maps, photographs and books. A small local history collection, including Census and Old Parish Records on microfilm.

You can contact them at

You aren't by any chance searching for "Ferguson's"??
