Ancestry are all at sixes and sevens

Post by emanday » Thu Nov 13, 2008 12:44 am

I'm just getting a series of "error" messages right now.

Searching sometimes works, but clicking to view an image isn't.

Just when I was on a roll with my son-in-law's bunch too

Aw Heck!

Now all I'm getting is this...

"We're sorry but Ancestry.com is temporarily unavailable. We are undergoing routine maintenance or we may be experiencing unexpected technical problems. We apologize for the inconvenience and ask for your patience as we work to correct the situation. Check back with us shortly."

Ooooh Mary

Its really bad if Ancestry can't tell the difference between 'routine maintainance' and 'unexpected technical problems'.

Maybe you should come out of retirement and help them out.

When I was using Ancestry a couple of hours back, it was working, but going as slow as the sun on the wall.

All the best,

I'm going to think positive here...

Maybe they were uploading all those corrections to the wild transcriptions we've been finding...

Maybe...

OK, so I'm clutching at straws

Mary when i called them on Monday they were well aware of having problems and were trying to fix it but are obviously still having problems - which statred for me on Sunday. I usually find that when they offer free periods like now with the Military searches problems tend to happen perhaps because of the overload ?
Scotland - Donaldson / Moggach / Shaw / Geddes / Sim / Gray / Mackie / Richards / Joel / Coull / Mckimmie / Panton / McGregor
Ireland and Scotland - Casey / McDade / Phillips / McCandle / Dinely / Comaskey + various spellings

True enough, Tracey.

I hadn't thought of that.

I agree that it is probably lots of people trying to use the free time but it is driving me crackers. It is like having the old dial up internet back which was much the same as watching paint drying.
