The Incorporated Hammermen of Glasgow

Post by rlyon » Tue Jun 16, 2009 9:47 am

Recently when searching the internet I found an electronic copy of Volume 1 of the History of The Hammermen of Glasgow This book was published in 1912. It contains a history of the Incorporated Hammermen from their start in the 16th century through to the end of the 19th century. Importantly, it includes a list of all members admitted between 1616 and 1911 (excluding the years 1733 to 1775). The office holders are listed for the years 1605 to 1911.

See: http://www.archive.org/details/historyofhammerm00lums. The pdf file is 23 MB in size.

The Incorporated Hammermen of Glasgow still operate today from Trades hall in Glasgow.

Regards ...
