Hi all
A new set of records with potential to be of help with Irish and Scots (and other UK) connections has recently been added on the LDS Pilot site:
Bounty Immigrants arriving in New South Wales 1828-1842
http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsea ... ;c=1542665
This collection indexes about 60,000 records of immigrants arriving in Sydney. Beginning in 1828, the Australian Government organized a program to encourage people to migrate to Australia, particularly to the State of New South Wales, which had been founded in 1788. “Assisted Immigrants” were immigrants whose passage was paid for or partially paid for by the Government as an incentive to settle in New South Wales. Another program which ran from 1835 to 1841 was the bounty reward system. “Bounty immigrants” were selected by colonists and who paid for their passage. When the immigrant arrived the colonist would employ them and the colonist would then be reimbursed by the government for all or part of the cost of passage. The first immigrants to apply for this assisted immigration were the people from Ireland, England, Wales, and Scotland. Later, people from other European countries began immigrating to Australia.
Best wishes
Lesley

My computer (or me) seems to have trouble with that site - the index to the Bounty immigrants is also a free access data base on Ancestry - there are no images however, but most of the data seems to have been transcribed (which may or may not be of benefit

)

Thanks Lesley,
I remember looking at these cards on microfilm at the library over 20 years ago. They’re very useful.
Trish,
I can see the images to all of my pre 1842’s. Maybe there’s a Flash problem.
You can test your Flash version here
http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/155/tn_15507.html
You can get the latest Flash (10.0.42.34) here (untick the McAfee scan if not interested)

All the best,
Alan

Ooh! I helped to transcribe these records! I am glad to see them available for everyone now.

Hello Nina,
Better clarify whether the transcription you did was from the Original Records to the Cards or from the Cards to the LDS site. People may think you’re ancient.
Family History is Ancient History only if you’re really good at it.

Hi Alan
It probably is as you say - I also have an ancient fear of downloading new versions of programs but I will venture to try your suggestions.
