The County Directory for Scotland, 1857

Post by Currie » Sat Apr 24, 2010 12:04 pm

The County Directory for Scotland, 1857.
http://books.google.com.au/books?id=oOY ... &q&f=false

(Under the disguise of “Directory to Noblemen and Gentlemen's Seats, Villages etc. etc. in Scotland — The Counties in which they are situated, the Post-Town to which each is attached, and the name of the Resident.”)

This one may have been around for a while but I don’t think the fact that it is available online has had a lot of publicity.

I’m not too sure how comprehensive it is but hope it’s useful to some.

I hope this was of some use to somebody, although it’s possibly not as useful as the title may suggest.

Hi Alan,
Thanks for bringing that up to the top again-- don't know how I missed it the first time, I must have been searching for Evanses in Minneapolis or something. Anyway, I have found some interesting stuff in there and have downloaded the book for further perusal.
Thanks,
Sarah

Hello Sarah,

That’s an amazing coincidence. I have some of those in my tree. Maybe were related? We'll have to both join Genes Reunited so we can get in touch.

All the best,
Alan

Alan,

Thanks for posting this. I missed it the first time around and have found at least one of my relatives in it!
