I've found my Gt Grandmother's death in Paisley Poorhouse on SP, where would be the best place to apply for a copy
of her Death Certificate, Paisley or Glasgow?

You can download the full version of her death entry on the Scotlands People web site, providing it is before 1959.

If after that date you can send for a copy of the death entry using the Scotlands People web site.

copy of her Death Certificate in the hope that this will give me some indication of where and when she was born.

If she died in the Poorhouse at Paisley they may have an application which inturn, could list her place of birth as well as other valuable info. Try contacting Paisley Reference library.

The death certificate will have the same info as the death entry. No dates of birth were given on death entries until relatively recently...not sure of exact year it started, but probably about 10-20 yrs ago, maybe...

To find out when and where she was born, you could try finding her in the census. Or her marriage? If you can give us some indication of names and dates, we may be able to help you locate her.
