Where'd my grandparents end up?

Post by Dennis » Sun Dec 12, 2010 3:21 pm

Hi,

Can you believe that none of my aunts & uncles & cousins or any of my family still residing in Glasgow will tell me where my mom's parents are interred?

Are you saying they know and won't share? Or that they don't know where they are buried?

Hi Dennis,

Sounds like you need to view the newspaper archives (Glasgow Herald?) and see if you can find funeral notices for them.

All the best,

My grandfather died April 23 1955 at Knightswood Hospital, so I figure the entire family knew where he ended up and my granny passed in 1985 at Woodilee Hospital, Lenzie, Dunbartonshire; about 4 of her 9 kids were still living in Glasgow and surely a couple of them know where she was buried. It seems to me that they just won't share the info.

Hi.

Well, the Evening Times paid off and I found them both; they had been cremated at the Glasgow Crematorium.

Thanks to all:) dennis

Just as a wee aside Dennis I worked very briefly in Knightswood Hospital as a Nurse-much later than 1955-about thirty years later in fact.
It was mainly a Unit then for Chest/Respiratory diseases.Mainly long sprawling huts which resembled an Army Camp in my opinion.
I think it's gone now(?) I don't often pass it by on my ventures home so not certain.
