FREE census access – 27th March (That would be UK time)
http://www.ancestry.co.uk/census_gettin ... _lid=45790
Now that they’ve got your attention Ancestry UK seem to be saying that only the UK Census indexes are free and that if you want the images you have to enrol in the 14 Day Suck It And See But Get Out Quick Before They Bill You Free Trial.
This is to celebrate the taking of the 2011 Census. I think if I was a drinking person I would rather get drunk to celebrate. Here’s the Blurb from the Marketing Manager. http://blogs.ancestry.com/uk/2011/03/21 ... 7th-march/

Re: FREE census access – 27th March
Thank you. I've been on to have a look.
On another point, I also found a reference to a "John Arbuthnot Home" born Edinburgh 1825 - and it came up telling me that a member has a photograph attached to their tree. Unfortunately I can't see it or contact the member. I was wondering if anyone with access could either send me a personal message with contact details for person who posted or even a copy of photgraph itself or both so I can contact poster. Thought some member on TS could help?
regards
Andy

Hi Andy,
If you are a member of Ancestry you should see the reference to John Arbuthnot Home. There appears to be two people by that name, one that shows as born in 1857, the other listed as born in 1826 (presumably the 1825 one that you are seeking), The 1826 one lists the photo, but is a private tree, so it cannot be viewed without contacting the Ancestry member to seek sight of their tree. No e-mail address is given, but there is a button to push to contact them by a private message. If you are an Ancestry member you can do this and then hopefully they will give you sight of their tree.
All the best,
AndrewP

Thanks Andrew. Unfortunately, I'm not a member of Ancestry. Was hoping that a kind person with access to Ancestry might be able to copy photograph or put me in touch with poster.

Hello Alex,
That’s a silent ‘k’ and pronounced http://fineartamerica.com/images-medium ... lapies.jpg
It’s the 28th already and it’s still free.

Re: FREE census access – 27th March
I'm wondering if they had overload and that is why - when I tried to log in to my paid subscription - I got told I was already logged in and couldn't have access. Tis infuriating when this happens and not a thing you can do but wait out their timing. Sure gets rid of the overload.Currie wrote:Hello Alex,
