Hi Dennis
whatsinaname web site
has Marnie as a name, but not Marney, I looked up Mary here too but nothing to link it to Marnie/Marney.

This web site , however has some suggestions:
Marnie/Marney: 'Marnina' - 'rejoice', short form of Marianne or form of Latin 'Marina'

Hope this is of some help. As a matter of interest where did you see the name?

Best wishes
Lesley
