IGI.....

Post by Caroline » Tue Dec 13, 2005 3:50 pm

Hope this isn't a stupid question!

When info has been submitted to the IGI instead of being extracted from records how do you find the name of the person who has given the info?

Caroline

Ritchie, Robertson, Smith, Summers - FIFE
Henderson, Montgomery, Rutherford - HAUGH OF URR

Hello Caroline,

not a stupid question. As far as I recall, the only submitter details that I have found have been in Ancestral Files. Find Submitter and click on Details.

Regards,

John

IF you go to your local Family History Centre & ask them to order films sometimes the submitters info is on this but usually where the work was done a long time ago the address is outdated or is not there.
I have Youngs in my line & the Temple work was done for them pre-1920s.I presumed that there was a member of the Church related to me back then but turns out that somebody decided to research this line I am speculating as a tie in to Brigham Young the 2nd President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day-Saints.I thought we were related but no connection this far.
My biggest shock on the IGI was on checking the submitter of a marriage tie in &reading the name of someone I have known for 25 years without realising that we had this connection.
