Sharing info with my family - file/software ideas.....

Post by Fiona » Wed Apr 05, 2006 10:19 am

Hi

Want to share what I've found with the rest of my family. I had suggested they download the LDS Personel Ancestry File software ver 5.2, and then I send them the file I have created for them to view.

This hasn't worked as I've hoped! Is there another way to do this? Is there another easier way to send them the info, which they can see on their PCs? Ideally an excel spreadsheet formated to a family tree style would be great, or something similar. Although am loathed to have to type in all the details again!

Thanks
Fiona

Hi Fiona,

I have developed a Excel spreadsheet that you can populate a six generation family tree through a series of input screens.
If you want to send me a PM I will be happy to send you a copy of it. It is not fully developed and there might be a few bugs in it but it might be what you are looking for.

None of my relatives, with PCs, have genealogy software. The package I use is FTM2005 which I have found has it's limitations. It's very good though for creating books in PDF format which most of my reatives have found useful- especially since they can just print it off in A4 at their end.
