Organisation?!! .....

Post by Miss Poohs » Wed Jul 12, 2006 9:28 pm

All the info and certs I've collected over the last few months are starting to get into a muddle.

How do you organise all the info you have collated?
Beveridge, Bonnar, Burns,Candlin, Colquhoun, Dewar,Graham,Hislop,Jackson & Robertson.
Martin & Nelson - all Liverpool
Allison, Beaton, MacLean, McLuskie & Todd.
Grant, McEwan, McLean & Syme.

I'm no expert, but I group them by families:
Father and mother's marriage cert. and death certs.
Children's birth and death certs.

If children marry then I take out all their relevant info and place it into a "new" family file.

Hope this helps!

Hi all
My family groupings are all in my software. Tbe BDM info is all in folders, one for each of the 2 main fmailies, and in chronological order within those folders. Separate folders for census too - again arranged by year.

Works for me....when I remember to file things away

Best wishes
Lesley

I've got a different coloured wallet (all now having to be extra capacity) for each of my four grandparents. The way I see it, I am the product of four families. When I download and print out a document I stick on a coloured dot, top right corner, to match the family folder colour.

Inside each folder I have a seperator. Behind that I keep the Birth certs and Death certs of spouses and siblings of my direct line.

The reason for all this apparent organisation and efficiency :?: ...

 I HATE FILING

... so I try to make it as painless as possible :!:

P.S. Forgot to mention - I also "dot" the certs, etc... that are not (as yet) proving to be my lot; just in case they turn out to be "someone" later. Separate buff wallet, colour then alpha order
