Canadian Census on line

Post by Kris » Wed Oct 11, 2006 10:04 pm

Hello everyone, last night I discovered that at

www.automatedgenealogy.com

you can find all of 1901 Census for Canada (transcripted and original pages) and most of the (soon to be finished) 1911 Census. There are the usual errors in transcription and - in the case of what I was looking for - miscalculations in birth dates due to MATH. But, overall, very impressive and from what I can tell, free. Hope this helps.

Yes I have to agree it is a good resource. By chance I found an ancestor on there. Before finding her I had been totally unware that's where she had gone as I lost her after one of the censuses in Scotland.

I found it great too. I just googled a name and village name and up it came! Didn't realise about the 1911 one so I'm off to try that one now!

thanks
