Time up! ...but did you all realise that the Canadian census is free on:
ancestry.co.uk
at present as seems to be all the English and other censi - at least I´ve been there the last few days with no results but no melted card either!

Guid hunting,

I'm still getting in for nothing and my account says valid from 1-5 November, so you may be able to squeeze in a few more searches!

Hi Tracey, I´m sure you are right about there being a limited number of Canadian censi available on Ancestry.co.uk. I did now however try "John Smith" and found him in Canada in 21 different censi including 1901 Nova Scotia and Ontario, 1906 Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta, 1911 British Columbia, Alberta and Ontario plus over 20 other lesser county censi. As far as I could see, there were also over two hundred censi in other countries including UK and US with his name, all free as far as I could see and images available.
I only mentioned the Canadian census as I tried the freebie at Ancestry.com and found the Canadian census for 1911 locked, subscription only, but could view it free on Ancestry.co.uk when I tried a few minutes later.

After all that, "my" family seems not to have departed west until after 1911!.....

Guid hunting,

Thrall

On reflection, perhaps I entered a "free offer" inadvertently. I have no subscription and used no plastic though! If it lasts for a few days, there´s lots that can be done - or could have been, if I´d not paid for it all in the past..... :?
