I have been told that one of my ancestors died in the 1937 Castlecary train crash, is there anywhere I can find a list of casualties. I have searched online, and found out about the crash, but no names.
thanks

There's 14 different pieces in the Scotsman in December 1937 about the crash and one, on Saturday 11 Dec - page 13 gives a preliminary list. You can search for free at http://www.archive.scotsman.com but it costs £7.95 per 24-hour period to view & download the articles.
Alternatively the Times for Monday 13 Dec 1937, page 14, column B has a list of the 35 people killed. Many large reference libraries (certainly in England, I'm not sure about Scotland) have the Times on microfilm. The digital version might be available through your local library either in the library or from home (using your library card number to log in). Check your county library service's website to see if they have it.
All the best

Hi Thomsos,
Apparently you can join up for Online membership at the Bedfordshire Library and get digital access to The Times.
I've not tried it myself but from a piece on Genes Reunited it says the website is http://www.galaxy.bedfordshire.gov.uk/cgi-bin/vlib.sh and apparently anyone is welcome to join but just make sure that you join 'online'.
Good luck
Donna

It worked, I managed to join and search The Times Newpaper, not found what I am looking for, but it is worth joining, never know when I might need it.
