LIVE SEARCH BOOKS .. GOES LIVE

Post by grannysrock » Wed Dec 06, 2006 9:40 pm

According to the BBC you can search out of copyright books from The British Library, the University of California and the University of Toronto from Thursday .

BUT I just tried it and it seems to work already .

Unlike the Google Book search - you can see the whole page, download the whole book .....

Hi Sally,

This is brilliant...many thanks. It's wonderful to see the "real" thing!

Someone who had contacted me about one of my old posts on TS sent me a copy of a couple of the pages from "The Harp of Stirlingshire" a compilation of several different authors. One in particular was written by Charles James Finlayson who apparently was the youngest of ten children so I pulled it up hoping I might find a bit more info on his family that might connect him to my Finlaysons...but no such luck, as yet. James Hogg, the Ettrick Shepherd" is also supposedly connected to our Hogg/Finlayson family, so I'm hoping that just maybe, I'll find a little bit to my never ending puzzle. Thanks again.

Regards,
Anne H
