Re: Rootschat
Hello elvis68,
I contribute as well under the same name, albeit infrequently, and to the Northumberland and Durham boards on RootsWeb. What I dislike about the others is the categorisation. Although the categories on TS are not perfect, they are vastly better than the general and counties approach of the others.
Regards,
John

Hi elvis68
I used to split my time between TS and Rootschat but recently have spent most of my time on here. I prefer the layout and approach most folk have. They prefer to guide you to answers rather than hand it to you on a plate.
On Rootschat I use the atavar Runner but always sign off a post as Russell.

I quite regularly have a quick run through the Scottish section of RootsChat, just checking the most recent one for each county that shows up on the main Scotland index page, and often taking a closer look into Lanarkshire and Midlothian where most of my lot were from.
In my mind, RootsChat suffers from too many people asking for a free look up when the information is available (alright, at a cost) from ScotlandsPeople. It drowns in these requests, and that puts me off.
I am there by my initials, ADP.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hi
I post there occasionally - but read it daily - fairly helpful research resource. It has been very helpful at times for searches & info on my ancestors who went to the US - the Scotland section is very slow and mainly based on folks looking for lookups - I also post on and read several others - mostly US based - but TS beats any other genealogy forum hands down for quality advice, support and downright friendliness. I post on RC as osprey28.
Best regards
Ted

Dont remember the last time i actually posted on there but do look in from time to time (as i did just now but cant remember my sign in name).
I find it an "untidy" looking site and those avatars
I find it really off putting reading a post with a jigging granny, a screaching cat or a video of a cat trying to catch a tail ect in the left hand column
- that really is why i dont bother with it much, i like tidiness
