illegitimacy

Post by margaretmccue » Sat Jan 20, 2007 2:01 pm

Hi all. can anyone tell me please, why some certificates have a stamp,
with paternal on and not others. I have two illegitimates without the stamp. one quite clear, with. one death cert. with what could be, paternaty. I find this confusing, as the two without, are the same mother,
the clear one was brought up as a brother instead of a nephew,
the one on the death cert I didnt know about, any help would be good.

cheers for now margaret :-k

Any formal "extract" from GROS should have on it an embossed impression of the seal (the "stamp") of GROS to indicate the formal, legal nature of the certificate involved, except that the original "certificate" provided at the time of the registration may not always have had the GROS stamp in an embossed form.
