HELP NEEDED
I wonder if anyone can help or give me some advice. My father Daniel Wilkie was born 8/5/19 at Barnhill Poorhouse and his mother Marion Wilkie boarded him out in 1922 to Mrs Johnstone, Burnside, Rosehall, Invershin then he went to stay with Mrs Elizabeth McRae in Kilarity, Inverness in 1927 then finally to Mrs A Chalmers, Easter Brogan, Slaines, By Ellon. The record finishes in 1934. I was hoping to get information on the people he stayed with just to find out what kind of life he had

I see you stay in Glasgow. I don't think it will be easy but with a bit of organisation and guess work a visit to Park Circus might help to find these people's marriage and death certificates. They should give occupations and ages.
If so you might be able to find them in the 1901 census.
I'm sure others will have more ideas.
Kind regards,
Annette M

It is a great site Christine and you'll find lots of help if you need it.chrisingram wrote:Thanks for that. I was planning to go to Park Circus but unfortunately it is booked until Mid March.
Thanks for the welcome, It is a great site

It is worth phoning Park Circus for a cancellation. I've been lucky in the past that way.
If you can go at a moments notice you can phone in the morning after 10 o'clock. They keep a station free in case anybody just turns without having booked. So that may be free. The only thing about that is you lose precious time.
Kind regards,
Annette M

Hi Christine
Have Wilkie in Glasgow on my dads side & Wilkinson(sometimes wilkie or wilkieson) on my mums- no connections. Have not seen a Marion, but, maybe just haven't found her.But do have Daniels on the Wilkinson side.
Susan
ps. Could it be Kiltarlity, Inverness?

Yeah I know maybe it has to do with that. The lady did she you can get a cancellation but you have to go up on that day hoping that someone will not turn up so I think I will just book in advance and hopefully find something.Wow!
Wonder if the BBC Radio Scotland programme has anything to do with that !!
David
