I have been doing family history research now for almost 25 years and as you will all know it's a very bad habit.
I was smoking for about 40 years and gave up at the end of last year. So far I am smoke free and intend to continue to do so.
Losing the second bad habit has left me awash with cash so here is the question:
If you came into an planned source of money and wanted to use part of it to feed your remaining bad habit, what in the family history department would you want to spend your money on?

Hi Searcher,
Welcome to Talking Scot!
Trips to the relevant places and archives to find things that are as yet unavailable online? It all depends on where your ancestors were located and which records you already have. It's impossible to advise without knowing those details. Congratulations on your "windfall" (and the effort I'm sure that went into it)
Regards,
Sarah
P.S. Very habit-forming, yes... but surely not "bad"?!

Welcome to TalkingScot, Searcher.
I agree with Sarah about visiting the places relevant to my family history, and old records not available online.
I've not been at my family history for long. Eventually, I'd like to have a large piece of art depicting or representing my history.
Congratulations on quitting your other habit! With the money I saved on that one - I bought 3 rings - one each for 3 months, 6 months and a year.
At the current price of a pack of 25 smokes in Canada, I could use 20 SP credits a day!
