planning ahead - NRH or local offices?

Post by kathyc » Mon Apr 02, 2007 8:28 pm

We've decided to save our pennies and make a trip to Scotland next summer ('08 - yes, I'm planning ahead!). Please keep your fingers crossed that the exchange doesn't get any worse!

One of the things I'll do while we're there is pick up copies of birth registers for my mum's late mother and sister, born in 1913 and 1941.

Edited because I think I figured out what I wanted to know, but I'm leaving the rest of the post alone to share my excitement about getting to go and do even a little of this stuff in person. :)

Kathy,
Your excitement is obvious and, although it is some time away, I wish you well for a successful visit. I know that everyone isn't lucky enough to be near to N.R.H., Edinburgh to be able to access the certificates etc., there and then so it will be a great buzz for you to be able to do that. Finding them on S.P is great too but sometimes you can really beef out your family history when you have everything there 'under one roof'. Gosh! I can hardly wait until you have been and can tell us all how you got on!

Thanks, Rach.

It's awfully silly to be excited already about a trip that's more than a year away, but I've wanted to go for so long that I can't help it. :D

Kathy

You go ahead and get excited. It's important to have something to look forward to. I do hope the trip lives up to your expectations and am sure it will!

I can imagine how you are feeling. [Sh,sh! I feel like that every time I approach N.R.H.! and I live a bus ride away!]
