IGI problem

Post by Billmalc » Tue Apr 10, 2007 10:29 pm

Hi folks

Anyone else having problems logging on to the IGI website?

My "favourites" link didn't work, so tried both links on TS resource page but they came up with the same error message saying that the site could not be found. Even tried the back door through Hugh Wallis's site but still no joy

Hi Bill

From many comments over the past few days, it's obvious that www.familysearch.org is going through one of it's upgrades, - these tend to take place every so often, on a basis of several months between updates.

Sometimes such upgrades only take a day ot two, or less, but sometimes they can stretch over as long as a week or two. It all depends on the extent of the alterations being made.

All that I can advise, based on previous experience, is to hang in there, and, above all else, be patient; not least on the basis that the outcome is likely to result in even better search possibilities ..............

Thanks for the explanation David. I thought that it was maybe AOL playing up, but at least now I know the reason :)

Thanks to Paula as well for giving it a try.

Hi Bill

Nae prob.

From experience of the LDS site over 20 years, just hang in there.

As far as we non-members of their Church are involved, we rarely receive any detailed explanations, but the outcome, in my experience, has always been 100% to our benefit =D> =D> =D>

I have to agree, we are lucky have the use of their website. Luckily I am very patient, so I don't really mind waiting a while to get back to it. It took me a wee while to get used to the site, but my searching is improving now that I understand it more :) . I've also found it to be quite reliable up to now when the records are taken from original OPR's etc. Not so reliable however when the information comes from some of it's members. I can understand that a bit of guess work may have taken place a few years back when records were less accessable.
