Post by paddyscar » Sun Apr 29, 2007 7:22 am

This announcement may be of interest to some of our members.

To celebrate the 3rd Birthday of LostCousins on 1st May, the LostCousins site is COMPLETELY FREE until
Monday 7th May (which is the last day of the Who Do You Think Your Are? Live! event at London's Olympia).
DON'T KEEP IT A SECRET....

Completely free access applies to both existing members and new members, so by all means pass on the good news
via forums and mailing lists - after all, the more people who take part, the more 'lost cousins' will be found.

Hi,
I tried this and it seems a very ingenious way to get accurate matches-- everyone inputs the standardized district, page, etc. information from the 1881 or 1880 census (England & Wales, Scotland, Canada or U.S.) as well as the name and age of the relative exactly as given in the census transcription, correct or not, and the matches can then be made automatically. I had a problem inputting a district number from the Canadian census and was getting an inexplicable error message. I sent a contact email that was answered very quickly, by a real person, who then got on it and fixed it right away (with an apology that things were slower, it being a Sunday  )-- very impressive service! All in all, seems like a well-run site.
Thanks for the link, Frances,
Sarah
