criminal proceedings
Hi: here is an unusual request. Is there a place to search for a possible criminal charges/proceedings? While looking through poor records I found a note that my 5X G. grandmother wanted her son prosecuted. It was just one line and no more was said. I don't know if it was perhaps just a confused old (70) lady, or real. So I thought if I could find a place where it would record charges laid or investigations, ... etc. This was 1860s. Thanks. Donna

If the alleged offence was of a nature to be dealt with by the Sherrif Court then it's very unlikely that any records will have survived, altho' there be something in the newspapers.
Only if the offence was serious enough such that it was the High Court of Justiciary involved, - murder and the like, - will there be extant records.

Thanks David: Just thought I'd ask. Maybe I'll check the papers although sometimes it's better to let things lie. Donna
