Newspaper look ups - Yetholm area 1917

Post by Betty MacKenzie » Tue Aug 14, 2007 11:08 am

I wondered if there was anyone who has access to old newspapers which might have anything about a J Frater who was killed in 1917. His name is on the KirkYetholm and Morebattle War Memorials. Also if there is a Roll of Honour book for the two areas. I might get lucky and there is a photo of him somewhere.

Thanks

Betty

The Commonwealth War Graves Commission (http://www.cwgc.org) might be of help for you, free lookup. There were five or so J Fraters that matched.

You may get this message twice as I got cut off and I don't know where my original message went.

Thanks for your message.

I have the military details from CWGC and a photo of the war memorials.

I just wondered if the local paper of the time might have had a photo of him. Some local papers listed the dead from the WW1 and sometimes included their photo.
