Is anyone undertaking specific research into expatriate Scots in South Africa following the signing of the Treaty of Vereeniging in 1902? I am particuarly interested in William Paterson (b 1878, Hamilton, Scotland), a farmer in Broomlands, who died in Bethlehem, Orange River Colony (Orange Free State) in 1908.
William Paterson is buried in the cemetery of St Augustine Church, Bethlehem, Free State, but the vicar there is unable to locate his grave. Have any MIs been transcribed for this cemetery?
I'd be extremely grateful for any help.
Cheers,
Rodeo

I found the NAAIRS database http://www.national.archives.gov.za/naairs.htm useful in finding references to deaths, legal documents and divorces in South Africa. I then had to find a researcher to get copies of the ones I wanted.
The effort was worth it but it is frustrating as their is so little information available on the internet. Good luck.
