Thought I would let you know how I got on when I phoned St Convals this morning. The lady I spoke to was brilliant she was so helpful. She told me the records are held there and looked it up for me right away so I now know there are 2 people in the lair and also room for 2 more it was quite a surprise as I thought single lair meant it could only hold one person I didn't realise it meant only one lair had been purchased . The cemetery records that I have seen for Ratho Cemetery list the names, depth of burial, date of burial, date of death, age at death, cause of death and address at death. Some of them also include place of birth (for adults and children).
As an example, one of my family tree lairs in Ratho has two babies buried at 7 feet (1904 and 1905), at 6 feet their father (1906), at 5 feet their mother (1941) and at an unrecorded depth their brother (1971).
Another cemetery record that I have seen also included the company name of the undertakers and name of the person who had contacted the undertaker.
There doesn't seem to have been a consistent method used for which details were recorded for a burial.
All the best,
Andrew Paterson
