Hi,
I was hoping someone out there could possibly help me look up an ancestor of mine who is buried in Alloa.
His name is David Gillespie b. May 1775 and died on 6th Feb 1867 in Primrose St., Alloa. Apparently he is in
Greenside Cemetery, according to Clackmammamshire Council.
I've already had a look today but without success.
Can anyone help ?
Regards,
Daryl

Hi Daryl
Could Clackmannan Council not provide a reference for the grave, so that it would be easier for you to find? Cemeteries are often split into sections e.g. A, B, C etc and within the section the lairs are numbered, so you might end up with a reference like D345 or similar. Most cemeteries have the graves numbered one way or another.
Although the date is after 1855, it might also be worth checking to see if there is an MI book for the cemetery as these often number the graves and may give a map to help you locate them - but there is always the possibility that there may be no stone, or it may not be in an MI book even if there is one, as they can be pretty erratic in coverage of stones from after 1855 (and even in some cases with stones pre-1855!!) in which case that is not going to help! Maybe worth checking if you are in the Mitchell library though - first you'd need to establish if they will have the MI books for that area.
