Eastern Necropolis-Janefield

Post by weeknightingale » Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:46 am

Hello Fellow Searchers,
I have just recently found that some of my relatives are buried in the Eastern Necropolis. I did have some ideas from wills etc. Was not sure where my grandparents were buried. Then I checked the memento-mori.com.uk site after about a year or so and to my amazement I found they had updated their indexes. There I found listed my great-grandfather, great-granduncle and aunt, great-great-grandfather and other family members that I have researched in my family. =D> All my mother's family are from Glasgow, Scotland. (Robin and Neilson) I visited years ago and have many fond memories from my childhood.

My question is: Has anyone purchased photos of family gravestones from this company and are they worth it? I definitely want to try it out! If worth it I will purchase as many gravestone photos as I can afford. This is such a grand find! Thought I would never even find where my grandparents were buried since all my mother's brothers and sister are now deceased. ](*,) I know at this stage in my life I will never make a trip over or even be able to walk and find the headstones myself. Nice to have the internet for such finds!
I know that this cemetery (Eastern Necropolis-Janefield) maybe in a very poor condition. However it is worth it to see my ancestors headstones.
Thanks for reading. Any thoughts or advise would be very much appreciated.

P. S. I did find my Uncles grave site that I was looking for in the past. I don't know if I updated that find here. Tottenham Cemetery Northern Section off Hart Lane. I have not been working on my genealogy search for awhile. I'm getting back into the fun mad passion-genealogy! :D
if I don't make haste, I shall have to go back through the looking-glass, Karola

Hi weeknightingale,

I highly recommend http://www.memento-mori.co.uk/ and have been delighted with the photos of several of my ancestors.

The prices are very reasonable and are ‘per stone’ regardless of how many individuals are listed, and you might get lucky and find a few generations of your family on the one stone. I especially love it when children or spouses, and others I never knew existed suddenly appear on a gravestone.

The quality of the photos are exceptionally good and depending on the condition of the stone itself, you might receive multiple photos of the one stone from different angles so well worth the price.

Usually included is an aerial or bird’s eye view showing exactly where the stone is so if you ever do find yourself in Scotland you'll know exactly where to go to find it.

Isn't it a wonderful feeling when you come across a relative's name and discover you can get a photo of the grave?

Regards,
Anne H
