Scottish Ministers.....

When researching the situation in connection with another post I came across a site that has full transcriptions of the first 2 volumes of Fasti Ecclesiae Scoticanae, the records of the ministers of the Established Church of Scotland, which often include genealogically valuable biographical information.......

Which way round it is in terms of better or worse I cannot recall, but do know that the various editions differ in the amount of biographical information that they contain.


There are similar compilations of the ministers of the Free Kirk, the Ecclesiastical Church, and one or two others, but they don't all contain the same amount of genealogically valuable biographical information.

Hi David ,That's the site I checked yesterday.I could find no sign but I thought the books might help.My trouble was I had it saved in favourites but I had no idea what the site address was.I'm not so good with this computer stuff yet.So a big thanks from me.I'm off to put the address in my files .

Hi Heather,

I'm not much use around computers either, but i now know that if i Right Click on a link i get the option to "Add to Favourites". At one time i copied them by typing the address out, but very often made mistakes!

Or if i'm at a site i can add it to my Favourites by clicking the Add button at the left hand side of page (this is with Internet Explorer).

Hi Jack,I can put things in my favorites,what I can't do is tell someone else how to look at the site later.For example one of my favs is Red Island table of contents.That's what I saved and that's what I click when I'm tracing the husband's BMD's in Nfld.I guess what I'm saying is it doesn't show the URL or whatever it's called.So I have all these neat sites and no Idea how to share them.(I now write down all the site addresses on index cards so it won't happen again.But there must be a way to see the address of my favorites.Maybe I should sign up for one of those computer classes I saw at the Alderney.Problem with learning from the kids is I also learn all their bad habits.

Hi Heather,

When i click on Favourites at the top of Internet Explorer they are all shown down the Left Hand side of the screen. If i click on Favourites again they will disappear and give me a full screen. But just click on Favourites once more and they are all back again.

When i want to post a link on a message i go to the page from My Favourites, then highlight the URL at the top by Right Clicking on it and then Left Click to select Copy.
I then go to the message i'm writing and wherever i want to put the link i Right Click again and Left Click Paste.
It should then appear.

Hello Heather and Jack,


probably an easier method is to right-click on the item within Favorites, and select Properties from the drop-down list. The URL is already highlighted. CTRL-C (hold down CTRL key and press C) will copy it. Move to where you want to reference the URL and CTRL-V will paste it.

That worked perfectly - i've now printed out your msg and pinned it in front of me.

And it'll stay there till i can do it without looking at the instructions.
