Hello
can anyone please suggest village names in the vicinity
of Bardarroch North Knapdale Argyll that i could use as
a starting point for my search for graves /burial grounds
for residents that lived in the area in 1850's.
any suggestions would be most welcome.
kind regards maggie

Hi Maggie,
Have a look at the cemeteries list of Argyll & Bute Council on the following webpage.
http://www.argyll-bute.gov.uk/pdffilesstore/2123502
Scroll down the page to the mid-Argyll section.
The nearest cemetery to Bardarroch is Kilmahumaig, Crinan. Also about 5 miles away (to the south-west) is Tayvallich (two cemeteries listed) and about 5 miles eastwards is Lochgilphead (two cemeteries listed). Then a little further off are Kilmichael and Kilmartin.
There may also be some churchyards which are not in the Council's control, and hence do not appear on their list.
All the best,
AndrewP

Hello Andrew P
thankyou for replying to me, i had found Tayvallich while googling as being a possible place to investigate
but hadn't considered the others like Lochgilphead
these ancestors where most inconsiderate
and popped off this mortal earth between 1851&1855.
I'm so glad you spotted my post on that other forum if 2p's worth had of answered me first i just might have put it to one side as one of those things that i wasn't able to chase up
Thanks to you i now one day can go strolling in the woods in the not so imaginary land of Bardarroch.
thanks once again
kind regards maggie
