Glasgow Necropolis.....

Post by angel » Sun May 01, 2005 9:07 pm

Hi

I have several ancestors buried at the Glasgow Necropolis and would like to find out all who is there. Is there anywhere I can write to find out the information the I need. All I know is that they are buried at the bottom of the hill.

There's more than 1 Necropolis in Glasgow,

The Southern Necropolis is off Caledonia road over the river Clyde from Glasgow Green.

The Western Necropolis is up past Maryhill to the North.

The Eastern Necropolis is off the Gallowgate at Parkhead.

That being said - the more famous one with a hill is the one behind the Cathedral and Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Hi Davie

The Glasgow Necropolis with John Knox standing on top of the hill is the one that I am interested in. It is also known as 'The Necropolis' and if I remember rightly the Royal Infirmary is nearby. Thanks for telling me about the indexing project I will make some enquiries.
