Hi Nearly Cousin!

Re your Aminta.........I take it her parents were a James Sneddon and a Rachel Burt.

Do you have anything further back on either of them?

I think I may have made a connection, albeit very far removed :D

Best wishes
Jean

I think the Burts had their own little empire going on there in Dunfermline. I also think that the Burt family and the Morris family had a couple brothers marry sisters perhaps even more. Nearly as I've been able to tell the christian name Aminta may have started (or at least that is as far back as I've gone with it) with Aminta WRIGHT who then married John BURT back around 1775 or so in Dunfermline. From that couple I get an Aminta BURT who married Thomas MORRIS in 1806 Dunfermline and they are the ones who created James MORRIS who married a couple of times and created Andrew MORRIS who married my Jessie McMEEKIN in Boston. I'm pretty sure though that the Aminta who married Thomas Morris also had a sister Rachel BURT who married James SNADON (or various spellings). They are the couple that had the daughter Aminta that came up in the BIVRI parent search above. I've also found Aminto as another spelling....my Andrew MORRIS had a sister registered that way.

Still NAC? :?

Best wishes
Jean

Ni NAC

Your Aminta's, sister Rachel did marry a James Sneddon in 1816 and went on to have Aminta 1817, Marian 1822, Margaret 1824 and David 1825. These from the IGI. Probably more on the discs!!!

However my lot seem to be from the following:-

A George Burt (probably your John's brother!!!) married a Helen Burt in 1781. They had Elizabeth 1782, Rachel 1786, Eleanor 1798,James 1803 These from the IGI. Probably more on the discs!!!!

Rachel 1786 marries my James Sneddon in 1806. They have all the kids Anne found on the discs,, also My George B 1820 (birth on SP)

This George 1820 is my ggg grandad.

So if John Burt b abt 1751 and George Burt b abt 1757 are brothers then we are very very distant NACS

Best wishes

 I belive we are then! I have a George Burt as witness to the christening of my James Morris son of Thomas Morris and Aminta Burt. Just not sure which George Burt he might have been! :? He was a collier at the time at Berrilaw as was Thomas.

I just knew we'd work it all out

Best wishes

Anne

You have indeed been a great help in really confirming that Rachel born in 1786 is mine :D :D

You see she was married in 1806. Banns called in Shotts for her husband and Rutherglen for her.

It has been niggling me that she was born in Dunfermline. Why didn't she get married there :?:

Now we know why!!! Mum and Dad moved to Old Monkland prior to Peter being born there in 1805.

Best wishes
Jean
