Hi Joette,

Any chance it could be Windylaws?

All the best,

AndrewP

Is it anywhere near to Eddlestone?John Scott was a ploughman on the farm & Helen working there too??They marry just before the 1841 Census & by the time the Census comes around they are living in Glencorse with Helen's Father John Veitch-he born Crawfordjohn& son of John Veitch/Betsy Tait they married Greyfriars & she daughter of Peter Tait of
Peebles.John Scott was born in Lilliesleaf.
When they have their sixth child in 1855 he (John Scott) gives their marriage place as Penicuik!
I often wonder as to the connection to Eddlestone.Fact that Helen was born there to John Veitch & Ann Craik in 1818.By 1827 he is marrying Janet Liddle in Temple & she is with both John's(husband & step-son-inlaw)on the 1841 Census. Also there is Helen & John's niece Elsiabeth McFarlane.
They named their only surviving daughter& eldest child Janet Liddle Scott so I am assuming that Janet brought Helen up rather than Ann Craik.
Why they were both working in or near to Eddlestone is a mystery.Maybe if we can pinpoint the farm & then find who was there in 1841 it may provide some clues.
Researching:SCOTT,Taylor,Young,VEITCH LINLEY,MIDLOTHIAN
WADDELL,ROSS,TORRANCE,GOVAN/DALMUIR/Clackmanannshire
CARR/LEITCH-Scotland,Ireland(County Donegal)
LINLEY/VEITCH-SASK.Canada
ALSO BROWN,MCKIMMIE,MCDOWALL,FRASER.
