Paula,
Oh dear Late again
Thank you anyway. A second opinion is always useful! :)

James Dobie, Newton (of the Veterans) 65 L C Y
Hope this means something to you.
I knew he was in the 1st battalion of the Royal Veterans so this would seem to identify him quite nicely :)

Best wishes,
Meg
Main family lines are Harpers from Midlothian, Fife & Kinross-shire, and Dobies/Dobbies from Midlothian. Also Strathearn, Stobie, Layden and Downie.

I suppose the problem is the sheer volume of Margarets and Jameses
Don't forget the William's :x

My William is staying hidden, sadly. Gutted. ](*,)

On that page, I would take LCY to be Lasswade Churchyard, and RCY to be Roslin Churchyard.

All the best,

Oh, joy! Back to my obsession with my Edinburgh Cordiners. I've definitely found 2. There are many others but I can't piece them together.

As is i didnt want to get caught up in with those "people who care so much about the environment they have to trash the City of London" i took today of - and Friday by the looks of it to - So first thing this morning i log on to SP and i checked for William Donaldson and there wasnt one single one  there also wasnt a Moggach in site either. Now there appears to be 245 William Donaldsons and about 10 Moggachs :?

Maybe it needed time to warm up :) (or more likely i did ! )

You missed some splendid yelling, a highland piper and a charming fiddle player (amongst the rest of the excitement). Of course I was there in a journalistic capacity, otherwise I should imagine I'd feel that I'd achieved nothing.

Scooter you brave man ! i watched it all on Sky news and i am sure they only showed the worst bits. Maybe i will brave that walk up Threadneedle St or the alternative to the West End for me - the Jubilee line - on Friday but the thought of staying home is always much more appealing

I did wonder if they boarded up LV, Gucci, Hermes ect or someone maybe getting something a bit nicer than a chocolate egg for Easter
.....................but they didnt show past the Royal Exchange !

I came across this tonight and in light of the OPR death records being released, I thought I'd pass this on from the Archdiocese of Glasgow (Roman Catholic) website
http://www.rcag.org.uk/history_A2_genealogy.htm
DEATHS REGISTERS
It was, and is, not common practice for parishes to keep registers of deaths.
Catholic deaths wouldn't likely appear in the OPRs anyway, but we're not likely to locate them within Church records either.
