That really is a big disappointment, Frances. I was hoping to solve a few mysteries. Let's hope when the births and marriages come online all who need them will get some of those brick walls knocked down.

Regards,
Anne H

Not likely in the OPR, but it does happen occasionally - see my earlier post in this thread. :D So I'd say it is worth a quick check on brick wall names, just in case........

Never give up hope. Particularly if your relative died in an urban area, there may be more records out there to search. For example, one of my ggg grandfathers does not appear on the OPR deaths & burials, yet I knew he died in Glasgow between 1839 and 1841. When I went to the Mitchell library a few years ago I found him in the records of the Necropolis. They have rolls of microfilm for each cemetery and you just have to guess which one and scroll through.

It worked for me! :D

All the best,
Sarah

I have just found what I think is my GgGreat-Grandmother's sister OPR burial.
The dates, place of residence, place of birth(Ireland so not the clue I was looking for),occupation all fit.I am assuming they were RC as their Father remarries in the RC Church & all the siblings that I could find ditto. My GGGreat-Granny's first marriage was in the RC Church but her 2nd CofS.Her daughter my Great-Granny married in the Free Church & according to my Mum did not attend the C of S that her hubby & children did & was fierce over Sabbath Day worship eg the food was prepared & cooked on the sat etc.
This is in Abbey Parish & they were living Doveland at the time.
