Hi Ame
Welcome to Talking Scot
You don't mention the source of your information, so you may have checked this already:
Looking on IGI, extract-
A JOHN DOBIE married a MARRION ROBERTSON
Marriage: 05 DEC 1760 Gladsmuir, East Lothian, Scotland
Could that be siginificant? Not seeing a Robeson, but might be a mistranscripion. You'd need to check the original record. Not sure why you've mentioned two wives - did he marry twice? Or is it that there is some uncertainty? There are quite few Dobies in the area by the looks of things, so I think you'd need to be careful to make sure you have the correct one: the above wives could belong to two different Johns!
There is this entry, but it is a submission:
- GEORGE DOBIE
Event(s):
Birth: 05 OCT 1769 Dalkeith, Midlothian, Scotland
Parents:
Father: JOHN DOBIE
Mother: BARBARA INGLES
...so again a check on the original would be worth following up.
The IGI shows these children (extracts) as belonging to George Dobie & Sarah Nicol with dates of
christenings given:
- 1. JEAN DOBIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 07 DEC 1800 South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland
2. BARBARA DOBIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 07 OCT 1798 South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland
3. MARION DOBIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 29 MAR 1795 South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland
4. SARAH DOBIE - International Genealogical Index
Gender: Female Christening: 15 MAY 1803 South Leith, Midlothian, Scotland
Not seeing William so far, but I'm not too worried about that - it could well be that he is not on IGI. Again it would be worth checking the OPR - dates of birth
and christenings may be given. South Leith records are generally very ordered and neat, well kept and easy to read.
Best wishes
Lesley
