Andrew or Archibald?
I have found some births on IGI, in Edinburgh Parish 1721-1731, on one son (Thomas) it states his parents as Andrew Donaldson and Isobel Brotherstons, but on his brother and 2 sisters it states parents as Archibald Donaldson and Isobel Brotherstons. Is it probable that Archibald is the correct one, since it is on 3 childrens births.
searching Scotland for Donaldson, Marshall

Hi Julie,
Probably is the best answer from the information you have given. Is the one naming Andrew at the beginning of the list, the end, or in the middle? If he was at either end, then it could be that one of them died and she married the other. If he was in the middle of the list, that possibility should be out, and makes a mistake far more likely.
Have you viewed the OPR images, or are you taking the information from the index? If from the index, it would be worth a look at the images to see that the entry in the index is correct, and is not a mistranscription.
All the best,
AndrewP
