Parish of Fyvie

Post by Capn Pugwash » Thu Nov 20, 2008 9:55 pm

I am looking at an OPR birth entry for Mary Stephen, born 1791 in what looks like Waulkmill of Rothes or Rotha in the parish of Fyvie. The nearest I can find is over near Aberlour. Was there somewhere in Fyvie?
Also earlier entries I am using refer to a place called Littlegourdas. Again I would welcome any information on this.

There is certainly a Mill Of Rothie in Fyvie in 1841, and Gourdas, as well as Little Gourdas and Meikle Gourdas. Gourdas and Little Gourdas still appear on maps today, just north and east of Fyvie Castle.

Hi Kath,

I didn't think to split Littlegourdas into two words.

Well done, you =D>
