Cannot read place of birth

Post by Lizzie » Sat Dec 13, 2008 7:09 pm

Hi All,

Recently found the birth of James George b. 1733. Have posted it to the Gallery in the hope there is someone out there who has heard of this place? Have Goggled all kinds of variations with no luck.

Hi Lizzie,

Looks like you may have uploaded the wrong OPR page. The one you uploaded is for Margaret Macrae (Applecross parish, 1830).

All the best,

AndrewP

Thanks Andrew, this Vista again, I have saved it four times now and have no idea where it is. I will try again later. It looks like Ardmelu, the area is Marnoch?

Hi Elizaceth
Maybe try a look here to see if any of the place names seem likely.

Ardmeallie, Ardmellie looks a possiblity.

Best wishes
Lesley

Elizabeth,

I have Vista too and it can be a pain.

Look down at the bottom of your screen and click on the Microsoft flag icon in the lower left corner. This should bring up a menu of sorts. Look for "Recent Items". You should get a drop down list of all the things you've done recently when you put your cursor on the little arrow. This should include things like images you have saved from SP etc.

Carol :D
Looking for: Clerihew, Longmuir/Longmore, Chalmers, Milne, Barclay in Newhills,
Munro, Cadenhead, Raitt, Ririe/Reary

Here is a suggestion to save documents using Vista:

When you see the record that you want from SP, hit the Prt Scr key, this takes a snapshot of the image you are looking at.

Open microsoft paint, and then click on Edit > Paste

You now have a copy of the record that you can rename to whatever you wish, and it won't be lost in Vista's wonderland.

Hope this helps.
