Ancestry help please

Post by crayspond » Thu Jan 22, 2009 6:49 pm

Hi All,

I have been trying to trace a marriage between James Christie and Margaret Garvie but have had no luck for a long time.
He is the father of my gt gt gt grandmother Margaret Christie (wife of Dugald McFarlane).
As Margaret was born c1820 (i never found her BC either) i have been looking at the years 1810 - 1825 on the IGI for marriage for James Christie and Margaret Garvie in Dunning Perth (that's where Margaret was married).
As they can get the names wrong i wondered if someone who has access could look at
James Christie and Margaret Geekie (could be Garvie?) 28/3/1819 in Perth.
I know it's a long shot but who has heard of the name Geekie !!

Thanks,

Ailsa

Hi Ailsa
There are no Scottish births, deaths or marriages on Ancestry as far as I am aware. You need to go and look at Scotlands People (link at top of page). There are no subscriptions available with SP, so we are all in the same boat...pay-as-you-go, though you can search and see if there is anything looking likely before you have to stump up.
I know it's a long shot but who has heard of the name Geekie !!
Geekie is a Scottish surname....
See http://www.surnamedb.com/surname.aspx?name=Geekie

Best wishes

There is a gap in the OPR births for Dunning from 1696 - 1820. See:
