Hi to All,
I am still looking into my McFarlane side of the family, especially getting any further back with my gt gt grandmother Margaret Christie who was born in Perth. My furthest back definite sighting of her father is on her marriage cert to Dougald McFarlane in 1837 but it only mentions the father James Christie Weaver. I have found the below
1 25/01/1818 CHRISTIE MARGARET JAMES CHRISTIE/ISABELLA ROBERTSON FR1544 U St Ninians /STIRLING
The McFarlanes named their first daughter Isabella which would fit in with the naming pattern - i spent ages on familysearch looking for any more of the Christie family but had no luck.
Any one any ideas or could have a look at LDS and see if they can find any more.
Much appreciated.
Ailsa
Any suggestions welcome

Hi Lesley,
Thanks i always try to get the whole family in one group but do it wrong - i am sure there will be a post i can search to instruct me how to do it on TS.
I now have to try and link the Christies to Perth by 1837 when Margaret got married. I would have expected a son to be called James after the father - as was the custom at the time.
I could of course be totally wrong with this family - but i just can't stop looking!!

Thanks for the link
Hi Lesley,
Thanks for the link, i have used it before many months ago but had forgotten how useful it is when looking for whole or part whole families.
I am trying to put a family tree together - without getting distracted!
It is very hard for me as i go off on tangents looking at brothers and sisters - it's no wonder i have big files on each branch of my (and my husband's family).
I enjoy it although the housework, garden etc get badly neglected!
You are very helpful as are other members on the site. Thanks again.
