Post by AndrewP » Mon Mar 30, 2009 12:06 am

Hi All,

ScotlandsPeople have announced on the SP Centre website that the OPR deaths and burials will come online on the SP website on 01 April 2009.

http://www.scotlandspeoplehub.gov.uk/sc ... /news.html

It is also noted in the news article that it is planned that these records will become available onscreen in the SP Centre by December 2009.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Ann,

It may do, or it may not. It is worth having a look at the list of OPRs on the GROS website. It lists what years are covered for which parishes for deaths and burials. In general the coverage is much less than for births (baptisms) and marriages (banns). There is a significant number of parishes where there are no deaths recorded at all.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Andrew

Thank you so much for posting this. What great news! \:D/

Sarah- I thought at first that is was an April Fools Day joke. :D

I just hope and pray [-o< that some of my old rellies will be listed on these deaths. I know that there is a good chance that they will not be listed.

That's great news Andrew. Maybe I'll be able to break down some of my brick walls.
