Gallery

Post by momat » Wed Apr 14, 2010 12:01 am

I have a OPR image that I would like opinions on but since we lost the Gallery I can't
work out how to show the image on here.
Have looked at using Photobucket but the brain can't cope with it. :? :?
I could email the image if some one is willing to post it for me please.
Cheers,
Maureen

Hello Maureen,

I’m only a newbie to photobucket. I’ve uploaded one photo so far. I think the site is much more complicated than it needs to be for people just starting out and who only want to upload a few images. Often third party guides as to how to use photobucket can be easier to understand.

If you feel like it try the instructions on this site http://www.ehow.com/how_5618874_use-pho ... files.html and/or the video here http://www.ehow.com/video_4978547_photo ... hotos.html and see if they help at all. Step 7 shows where to get the link to post on the forum.

Your OPR image is probably very much bigger than the standard photobucket setting of 1024x768, and, if they accept it, would display much smaller than what you have at home, possibly too small. Changing your options to 1MB as mentioned in the video may solve that problem. Your OPR is probably less than 1MB.

Cropping the image so that it’s a bit smaller, but still leaving plenty of stuff around the area of interest so handwriting can be compared, can also solve the size problem. That is if you’re into that sort of thing.

Take a look at the instructions and video and see if it’s easier to understand and if not report back.

All the best,
Alan

Hi Maureen

Since our gallery went down a few folk have sent me images to look at. PM me and I'll send on my e-mail address.
Like Alan I have not found photobucket the easiest site although once you get the first image up it does become easier.

Hi Maureen,

The image is very blurred (been saved a few times as JPG?). The part you are questioning is an old-fashioned double-s, written looking like ƒs. That is seen quite often on documents from that era.

All the best,

Not meaning to be rude, but are we ever going to have a new gallery?

Hi Nina,

The gallery exists in part in the TS background, but there is an outstanding technical issue, so it cannot be opened for use yet. The gallery software needs to link to the forum software to make the forum login control the gallery login. With the previous forum software it more or less worked - looked fine from the outside, but never worked 100% on the admin side. Now with this forum software, I am not getting the bridge program to work to link the gallery to the forum. I am still trying to resolve this matter, but without any luck so far.

In the meantime, if people have items that need to be shown as part of a post, then they need to go to one of the many free image hosting sites, such as Photobucket. In photobucket, when you upload an image, their software generates a web-link. You then paste that web-link into your post for people to be able to view that image.

All the best,

AndrewP

Hi Maureen,

Here is the entry in the OPRs that you were asking about.

Image

or http://i589.photobucket.com/albums/ss34 ... ropped.jpg to see the full width - the TS forum has cropped a portion from the uploaded image (depending on your screen size and resolution).

Unfortunately, none of the other entries on that page had a double-s.

All the best,

AndrewP
